What Do Bed Bugs Look Like?

Adult bed bugs are broadly flattened, oval insects with very small wing pads. Before feeding, bed bugs are brown and about the size of an apple seed. After feeding (on you!) they are often swollen and red from the blood they have ingested. The nymphs are almost clear in color and very difficult to spot. Blood smears and fecal stains on sheets and mattresses, though, are easy to spot. If you see any evidence, call in a professional bed bug exterminator to get rid of bed bugs in your home.

How We Get Rid of Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are notoriously hard to detect and can be challenging to remove. They’re expert hitchhikers — hiding on luggage, clothing, upholstered furniture, and bed frames. Bed bugs are also excellent hiders, but their aggregate pheromone odors can’t hide from animals with sensitive noses, like dogs. We partner with UCPaWS and they have a K9 Bed Bug Scent Team. It’s a great way to be proactive about bed bugs. Whether you have proactive inspections done by our dogs or choose our traditional or heat treatments, Graduate will discreetly help you eliminate these pests and get back to a good night’s sleep.

What Problems Do Bed Bugs Cause?

Bed bugs will bite and feed on people and pets. The bites are relatively painless but can turn in to painful, itchy red welts pretty quickly – especially for people sensitive to them. Just the thought of bed bugs can be traumatizing enough but they are also difficult to get rid of. Proper bed bug extermination is contingent on the preparation steps being checked off. As long as the area is prepared correctly, a professional bed bug exterminator should be able to take care of them quickly and effectively. Check out these 7 steps to prepare for bed bug treatments to make sure you’re checking off everything on your bed bug preparation checklist.
